American Rock Maple

Appearance

American Rock Maple heartwood is creamy white to light reddish-brown, with the sapwood being almost white. The grain is generally straight with a fine, even texture. Figured varieties (bird's eye, curly, quilted) are highly prized for decorative work. It has a clean, contemporary appearance.

Workability

Rock Maple machines well but can burn with dull tooling due to its density. It takes stain moderately well — the tight grain can cause blotching without pre-conditioning. Excellent for applications requiring a hard, durable, light-coloured timber.

Common Uses
